Tom Klaver is the Band Director at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Middle School. He has also taught in the South Hamilton, CAL, Denison, and in the Mount Vernon Community School Districts. He is a 1989 graduate of South Hamilton High School, a 1994 graduate of The University of Iowa, and a 1997 graduate of the Armed Forces School of Music in Norfolk, VA.
At the University of Iowa, Mr. Klaver was on the undergraduate staff for the Hawkeye Marching Band, first chair Euphonium in the Symphony Band, and a Tuba player in the University of Iowa Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Klaver served as a member of the United States Navy Band Great Lakes from 1997-2001, being named Junior Sailor of the year in 2000. Mr. Klaver’s duties included performing tuba in the Ceremonial Band, Marching Band, Symphonic Band, and in the Brass Quintet. Additionally, Mr. Klaver played bass guitar and rhythm guitar in the Navy Band Great Lakes Rock Band. Mr. Klaver is a frequent clinician, adjudicator, and guest conductor. He is active in the Iowa Bandmasters Association, having served as President of the Southwest Iowa Bandmasters in 2008-2009. Outside of the Band Room, Mr. Klaver is an avid golfer, Chicago Bear, Iowa Hawkeye, and Chicago White Sox fan. |
